It’s got that muscle bike look reminiscent of the orginal Vmax; it looks more like a big standard than the usual HD cruiser. I normally don’t like the look of a big, chunky tire up front but it seems to work on this bike. It’s been ten years since I sold my Lowrider and I’ve been getting the itch (every spring!) since then. $17k is a lot for a 5 month toy in the northeast, but I’d definitely consider one if I don’t end up buying used this time around.

If you’re looking for the asthetics of the fatbob but cheaper look into the Indian scout Bob. I think it looks fantastic and it’s only around 12k new

I rode one this weekend and was pretty impressed. Riding position is definitely more standard and less cruiser. Basically a standard with slightly forward set controls. The seat keeps you fairly upright and pretty locked in place, but is still pretty comfy and provides a surprising amount of back support. Didn’t get a chance to really feel out the handling but it felt fairly nimble, except that fat front tire really wanted to keep the bike upright. The bars felt like they were angled upward in a sense, like the inside of my wrist was twisted down, but that might just be me, my friend rode it as well and didn’t notice that at all. The only thing I really didn’t like is that the tank mounted dash is a big analog tach, with the speedo a digital readout. Those needed to be switched around.

Looks cool but it’s no Rocket III Roadster

That thing is a monster. I bought a VTX1800 years ago from a guy who was thinning out his collection, and he had a Rocket. I like the Thuderbird Storm, and would consider one for sure.

This sounds about right. I don’t like digital speedos either.

I don’t mind a digital speedo, in fact I loved it on the Street Bob, but on this bike all of the emphasis is put on the tach, which just doesn’t really work.

I have one, coming from Japanese sportsbike and touring bikes. The Bob only has Harley’s name (and even though, almost no sign of it anywhere, even the name is dark grey on black on the tank. Harley riders don’t wave at me on the road, they prolly think it’s a japanese bike ...) and very nice fit/finish. For the rest it’s very un-harley-like, it’s well suspended, it stops and goes like a modern motorcycle should. It hauls like a freight train, but without drama or unneeded noise, just a deep grumble and some strong forward motion. Super quiet and unassuming. I love it.

My review is not biased at all. Ahem.

Super quiet? Unassuming? It’s the anti-Harley! (You mean you don’t have a skull or demonic joker mural painted on the tank?)
